The fifth graders really enjoyed adding to their knowledge about explorers with a field trip to Cabrillo National Monument. Our tour guide, ‘Ol Salty Dog Tavio’ helped bring to live what life was like on board a carrack (sailing ship) during the 1400’s. We also learned about Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo who first mapped the California coast. Later we walked up to the Point Loma Light House, and walked around the point. It was a beautiful day to learn more about explorers!
